Richard H. Blau, M.D. is a board-certified Rheumatologist and Director of The Arthritis Institute of Long Island. He is a founding Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology. He is also a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, the Nassau County Medical Society and the New York State Medical Society.
Dr. Blau completed his postdoctoral training in Internal Medicine at the University of Southern California and graduated with Distinction. Upon graduation, he received awards from both the Society of Graduate Internists as well as the American College of Physicians. After completing his fellowship at USC in Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology, he received the Southern California Lupus Foundation Research Award as well as the Southern California Rheumatism Society Research Award.
While at USC, he performed research in immunology, systemic lupus erythematosus and psoriatic arthritis. His medical publications include work in Sjogren's Syndrome, vasculitis, and psoriatic arthritis. These publications have appeared in the Journal of Rheumatology, the American Journal of Nephrology, the Western Journal of Medicine, the Archives of Internal Medicine, and Arthritis and Rheumatism.
Dr. Blau has had academic appointments at the University of Southern California and Cornell School of Medicine. Currently he has a clinical appointment at New York University Medical Center. He is a staff member at North Shore University Hospital at Manhasset and Glen Cove. Dr. Blaušs office is at the Arthritis Institute of Long Island
